Step 1: Learn
Begin your journey by reading about the program at Stevenson. After you complete the Request Information form, we'll send you a viewbook, a preliminary application, a course catalog, and our College and University Acceptance brochure. This will introduce you to Stevenson.
If what you read seems interesting, then it's time to move on to Step Two, "Apply."
Step 2: Apply
Applicants to Stevenson are strongly encouraged to complete the application process on line using one of the first two methods below.
-
Stevenson Online Application: Stevenson On Line Application: Completing your Stevenson application on line is straightforward and efficient.
-
SSAT Standard Application On Line: If you are applying to multiple schools that accept the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSAT) Standard Application On Line, you may prefer to apply online through SSAT.
Alternatively, applicants who would prefer to apply using paper forms, may do so through one of the following formats:
-
Download all of the application forms from this site. When you submit the application, please be sure to include the application fee.
-
Fill out Stevenson's Preliminary Application: In the back of the viewbook we send you, you'll find a Preliminary Application. Return it to us along with the application fee, and we will forward all of the application forms you need.
Stevenson's priority deadline is February 1. Stevenson will consider applications until enrollment is full, at which time students can apply for the wait list. After the February 1 deadline, interested students are encouraged to email us or call 831-625-8309 to learn about possible openings.
Step 3: Visit / Interview
Campus Visits and On Campus Interviews
Contact us to arrange a campus visit and interview by calling the admission office at 831-625-8309 or email us. Campus visits are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday when classes are in session. During your visit you will take a campus tour with one of our students, interview with a member of the Admission Office staff, participate in a class, and have the chance to learn about the programs that are of particular interest to you. In April, accepted students are invited to return for a second visit that will include attending a half day of classes.
Our annual Open House is also a great opportunity to visit campus and experience Stevenson.
Off Campus Interviews
Off campus interviews may be arranged if a member of our Admission Office is traveling to your area. Please see the Where We'll Be section of our website for the latest information on our travels.
Chinese Applicants
Candidates from China requesting interviews are required to contact our affiliate in China - Vericant - which will conduct preliminary interviews. Candidates will also submit a writing sample during their visit with Vericant. Vericant does not evaluate candidates but, instead, posts the interviews online for Stevenson’s Admission Office to review. Candidates will then be selected by the School for formal interviews. To learn more about Vericant, please visit the Vericant website.
Overseas candidates are cautioned that Stevenson employs no organization to represents its interests outside the continental United States. While Stevenson School has a warm relationship with a number of reputable consulting agencies who will refer candidates to the School, no agency can guarantee that their candidate will be admitted to our School. No agency has permission to use Stevenson's images or information for the purpose of marketing that agency without Stevenson's permission.
Stevenson does have an affiliation with Vericant, which conducts a pre-interview screening process for the School in China, but Vericant does not represent candidates and does not claim to offer an advantage to the candidate during the application process.
Step 4: Test
The SSAT is required for all applicants in grades 9-11 and should be taken no later than February.
Applicants to grade 11 and 12 may submit the PSAT in place of the SSAT.
The TOEFL is required for international students. Testing for international students will not be considered complete until both TOEFL and SSAT are submitted.
Applicants living outside of the US may request to be exempt from TOEFL if they meet ALL of the following requirements:
- The applicant must speak English as their first language at home.
- The applicant must have attended a school for at least three years where the primary language of instruction is English.
- The applicant must demonstrate English fluency on the SSAT.
Applicants may submit a TOEFL Exemption Request if you are able to confidently meet these three requirements. To request exemption from TOEFL submission, an applicant must submit the TOEFL Exemption Form (see links below), SSAT scores and writing sample, to the Admission Board for review.
Your TOEFL Exemption Request must be submitted by email to info@stevensonschool.org in PDF (.pdf) or WORD (.doc) format. The subject line must read “TOEFL Exemption Request: Student’s Full Name”.
Our Admission Board will review your request and respond to you within two weeks of receiving the form. We thank you for your interest in Stevenson School.
Stevenson's TOEFL code is 8081, and our SSAT code is 6082.
