

In the recent Monterey County Science Fair, projects by Senior Jimmy Lin and Junior Nathan Xu made the top 5 within 24 projects that were advanced to the California State Science Fair. In addition, Jimmy Lin has won 1st Runner-up for Grand Prize and will represent Stevenson at the upcoming Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
With the largest student participation in the history of the Monterey County Science Fair, more than 630 students from middle schools and high schools throughout Monterey County have exhibited and presented 378 science projects.
Jimmy Lin's project, "Investigating the Inhibitory Effect of Resveratrol on Ovarian Cancer Cells," received the following recognition:

Grade 8 student Henri Pratt participated in the Monterey County History Day and received the African American award for a project on Jackie Robinson and was also a finalist in the Junior Exhibition category. Henri represented the Jackie Robinson project (a collaborative effort with classmates Nick Chancellor and Jake Merenda) on March 16 and March 17 at All Saints School, this year's host of the 22nd Monterey County History Day 2012 "Revolution, Reaction and Reform."

Marcus Banks and Abby Woolf competed recently in the annual Carmel Lion's Club Speech Contest held at the Carmel Youth Center. Both students prepared well and delivered compelling speeches which answered the question, "What Can the America of Tomorrow Learn From America's Past?" Each student will receive a stipend. As the winner, Marcus Banks will continue with the competition in subsequent weeks. Congratulations to Abby and Marcus!
