Program Mission

Core Leadership California students work with world-class mentors in a culturally diverse residential setting to discover and practice the capacities and skills they need to make the brave, inclusive, values-driven decisions that transform their world.

Program Overview

Great leaders collaborate with others to create and inspire healthy, innovative, high-trust cultures. In order to design a leadership program tailored specifically for emerging leaders, we asked ourselves: what kind of training do today's teenagers need in order to become healthy and effective citizens and leaders in their worlds. Our answer starts at the core: aspiring leaders need a supportive community of peers and trained mentors with whom to explore the depth and complexity of their inner lives.

This immersive, experiential two-week summer program enrolls 36 students from around the world and is located on the Stevenson School's campus in Pebble Beach, CA. Learning sites include the Pacific Ocean and local forests and mountains, as well as traditional classroom spaces. Each day includes written and spoken reflection, empathic listening, small and large group collaboration, and time in nature. Our 2:1 student to faculty ratio ensures our students receive regular, high-quality mentorship from both Core Leadership graduates and industry-leading professionals. Core Leadership students consistently remark on the program's transformational effects and credit it with helping them become assets to their school and local communities.

Core Leadership California is a highly selective, challenging, and transformational summer program. Our teaching is learner-centered, and our curriculum is rigorous and highly structured. A deeply connected network of mentors and Core Leadership graduates look forward to welcoming you to Core Leadership California!
