Upper Fields Project

After years of planning, the school is building a new synthetic turf athletic field, resurfacing the current football field with synthetic turf, resurfacing the track, and upgrading our bleachers, press box, and parking lots.

This project reflects our respect for the history and tradition of athletics at Stevenson, our commitment to students’ health and well-being, and our belief that athletics is a prime site for experiential learning and for establishing lasting values and lifelong relationships. On a practical level, it will once again allow us to schedule games and practices for our 18 field teams without impinging on our students’ time for study and community activities.

Project Timeline

Phase One (COMPLETE)
After the AP environmental science class removed over 300 pine saplings from the area for replanting, the trees were cleared from the new field site.

Phase Two (Late May - Fall 2017)
The site is being graded and synthetic turf will be installed in the fall for the new soccer/lacrosse/field hockey field. The new turf will have a natural infill rather than rubber crumb, Additional parking, pathways, and retaining walls will also be constructed. If all goes smoothly, this phase will be completed and the field will be ready for play in November 2017.

Phase Three (June 2018 - September 2018)

When the fundraising efforts are successfully concluded, work to resurface our existing track and install a new synthetic playing surface on our current football field will begin. We hope this project will be completed by the time school reopens in September 2018.

Funding needed
We need your help to finish the project! $3.1M of the $6M needed has been raised.
