During the three-day extended weekend, my friends and I set on our journey to explore areas of the Monterey Peninsula where we have not been before. In the past two and a half years spent in this area, I slowly felt that I had begun to run out of options for places to go on the weekends. I found our “usual” hang out spots to be a bit too mundane, and I hoped to make the rest of my time spent in this place more exciting. Thus, with two of my friends, I embarked on my adventure to Pacific Grove.
As we were on the road, I looked out the window a few times and saw the various arrays of stores and restaurants with names that I did not recognize. Many things intrigued me, and I could feel the anticipation building up inside me. I realized that once we traveled a little further than the area that we are familiar and comfortable with, there were so many options than we had thought, waiting for us to try.
We returned back to campus, feeling satisfied with our day. It was a simple and happy trip (especially because we got some really tasty avocado toast!), but I felt a shift in my attitude towards the place where I currently call home.
avocado toast! & a pretty courtyard on a sunny day
