Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet based (TOEFL iBT) or International Language Testing
Since Stevenson does not offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) program, all candidates must demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English.
Applicants living outside of the US may request to be exempt from the TOEFL iBT if they meet all of the following requirements:
The applicant must:
- Speak English as his or her first language at home
- Have attended a school for at least three years where the primary language of instruction was English
- Demonstrate English fluency on the SSAT or ISEE
To request exemption from TOEFL iBT, an applicant must submit the TOEFL Exemption Form (see below), SSAT or ISEE scores, and a writing sample to the Admission Board for review. Release official scores to Stevenson using our school code SSAT (6082) or ISEE (570943).

All test results must be sent to Stevenson directly from the testing organization. We will not accept score reports from the applicant’s family, agents, or consultants.
