Tier Two (Don't Delete)

Upper Division

We invite the boldest and bravest young adults to explore their potential for greatness. Our school is a place where we become citizens of the world together and a place for young people to learn how to successfully transition into the academic and social demands of college and life beyond. Students at all levels are encouraged to exceed their own expectations, to expand their notion of what’s possible, and to chase their passions with hunger and integrity. In return, we are committed to preparing students for a full, rewarding life marked by academic, personal and professional excellence.

Application Guidelines

Step 1: Request Information

Let us know you're interested in Stevenson, and we'll prepare a packet of information that will be mailed to you. You'll receive a view book, our college and university acceptance brochure, contact information, and updates from our admission team.

Step 2: Start Your Application

Please use this helpful checklist as a resource during your application process.

Applicants to Stevenson's upper division must complete the SSAT Standard Application On Line (SAO). If you are applying to multiple schools, be sure to check which schools accept the SAO.

Stevenson's priority deadline is February 1. Candidates who have completed the application by February 1 will receive an admission decision by March 10. Stevenson will consider applications until enrollment is full, at which time students can apply for the wait list. After the February 1 deadline, interested students are encouraged to email us or call 831-625-8300 to learn about possible openings.

Step 3: Visit Our Campus and Interview

Campus Visits and On Campus Interviews

Contact us to arrange a campus visit and interview by calling the admission office at 831-625-8300 or email us. Campus visits are available Monday through Friday when classes are in session. During your visit you will take a campus tour with one of our students, interview with a member of the Admission Office staff, participate in a class, and have the chance to learn about the programs that are of particular interest to you. In April, accepted students are invited to return for a second visit that will include attending a half day of classes.

Our annual Open House is also a great opportunity to visit campus and experience Stevenson. Please see the Visit Us page for more information.

Off Campus Interviews

Off campus interviews may be arranged if a member of our Admission Office is traveling to your area. Please see the Stevenson On the Road section of our website for the latest information on our travels.

Skype Interviews

For students unable to visit campus, Skype interviews are offered while school is in session, Monday through Friday, at several times throughout the day. Please have several dates and times in mind, then contact our office to schedule a Skype interview.

More information on Skype interviews can be found here.

Step 4: Complete Required Testing

All applicants to Stevenson School are required to take a standardized admission test. For priority consideration, applicants need to complete the admission test no later than early February in the year in which they are applying.

Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet based (TOEFL iBT) or International Language Testing

Since Stevenson does not offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) program, all candidates must demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English.

Applicants living outside of the US may request to be exempt from the TOEFL iBT if they meet all of the following requirements:

The applicant must:

  • Speak English as his or her first language at home
  • Have attended a school for at least three years where the primary language of instruction was English
  • Demonstrate English fluency on the SSAT or ISEE

To request exemption from TOEFL iBT, an applicant must submit the TOEFL Exemption Form (see below), SSAT or ISEE scores, and a writing sample to the Admission Board for review. Release official scores to Stevenson using our school code SSAT (6082) or ISEE (570943).

Please click here to complete the TOEFL Exemption Request Form.

All test results must be sent to Stevenson directly from the testing organization. We will not accept score reports from the applicant’s family, agents, or consultants.

Step 5: Check Your Application Status

Follow Up on Outstanding Application Materials

Once you submit application materials for your Pebble Beach application, we will email you credentials to access your Pirate Page. You may then use your Pirate Page to check the status of your application and receive other important notifications. We recommend you bookmark this website for quick reference.

  • Student Profile, Parent Statement, Student Essay
  • English Recommendation, Mathematics Recommendation and Principal/Guidance Counselor Recommendation
  • Transcripts (Required transcripts consist of your historical grades from the 2017-2018 school year and the current 2018-2019 first semester/trimester grades. Your Registrar should include, with your grade report, all standardized testing you have completed.)
  • Standardized test results (Refer to Step 4, above)
  • Stevenson Supplement

My daughter attended Stevenson for four years and had the most incredible experience. It was more than an academic education. She grew into a beautiful, strong young woman and developed a camaraderie with students and faculty that will follow her wherever she goes in life.
