FIELD HOCKEY

Christine Winge joined Stevenson in the fall of 1981, beginning an impressive three-year run as one of the top female student athletes in the school’s history. Having spent her freshman year at Carmel High School, Christine had established herself as an athlete, making the varsity field hockey team and helping the Padres win the Mission Trail Athletic League championship.

At Stevenson, she played varsity field hockey team beginning her sophomore year, and by her senior year was named team captain, and first team All Mission Trail Athletic League. Throughout her years at Stevenson, she also played JV volleyball and softball, and supplemented her team sports with weight lifting and cheerleading.

Christine attended UC Berkeley where she played field hockey during the 1984 season. In 1985, she switched to the women’s lacrosse team where she played varsity from 1985-1987. After graduating from Cal, Christine coached middle school field hockey in Berkeley.

Then, in 2008, Christine was invited to help build the field hockey program at Carmel High School. During her eight years of coaching for the Padres, she grew the program from 20 participants to 50, and led the team from last place to third place in the Mission Trail Athletic League.

In 2017, Christine accepted the position of executive director of AMP Media. She continues to contribute to the community; between 2007 and 2012 she served on the board of the Carmel Unified School District, and as a past president of the PTAs at Carmel River School and Carmel Middle School.
