Kyle Cassamas took over the helm of the Pirate football program in June of 2017. Since coming on board he has steadily improved the football program each year. His 2019 team achieved a .500 record and was in contention for a PCAL Cypress Division title until the last week of the league season. This was accomplished with no home football field due to the construction of a turf field. Under Kyle’s leadership the number of participants in the program on both the varsity and JV teams has expanded. He has been able to assemble a solid coaching staff furthering the competitiveness of the program. In his career at several schools, Kyle has coached varsity football, JV football, varsity basketball for three years, and flag football at the middle school level. An outstanding high school player at the Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island, Kyle led his football team to a four year record of 36-4 playing both offensive lineman and linebacker positions. His senior year he led the team to an 11-0 record and the state championship while being named team MVP, lineman of the year, and 1st team All State as a linebacker. In college he played football four years (one season at Springfield College and three seasons at Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island) and one year of basketball as a walk-on player.
