Matt Rymzo joined the Stevenson School faculty as an Upper School English Instructor in the fall of 2010, bringing with him a strong playing and coaching background, especially in tennis. Joining an already well established championship program as an assistant and now head boys tennis coach, the program has continued to flourish under his leadership. Since assuming the head coaching role in 2016, the Pirates have won four consecutive MBL/PCAL championships and have qualified for the CCS playoffs in 2017 and 2019. The 2019 team finished the regular season undefeated with a 13-0 record. In addition to coaching tennis, Matt also served for six years as an assistant coach for the varsity girls basketball team and currently serves as an outdoor education instructor for Stevenson’s sophomore wilderness expedition. Prior to coming to Stevenson, Matt coached varsity girls tennis, varsity boys soccer, and JV boys basketball at St. George’s School. Matt attended St. George’s School, and in 1997 was team captain and first team all-league in tennis. Moving to Middlebury College, he was a two-year team captain, a NESCAC doubles champion in 2001, and twice garnered All-NESCAC Academic honors. Matt holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.A. from Columbia University.
