|Dear Stevenson Community,
I hope this message finds you and your family safe and well. As the current school year nears its end, our thoughts are already turning to next semester. Though it’s much too soon to put forward our definitive plan for a safe reopening, we have prepared a handbook that brings you up to date on our current work on this important subject, and also addresses the School’s approach to navigating the financial challenges associated with the pandemic.
You may access this handbook by accessing your Pirate Page here. I’ll reiterate that the handbook’s goal is to describe the early stages of our efforts to meet the key challenges on the road ahead. As you know, this process is extraordinarily difficult because conditions change on an almost daily basis. For example, this morning Monterey County’s public health officer, Dr. Ed Moreno, met with the county supervisors to report his decision that it is now safe for schools to open “with modifications.” Of course, there’s no way to be sure that the data supporting his position will still be relevant a month or more from now.
Though our handbook is, in this sense, very provisional, we trust that you will find it helpful. Count on regular updates as we acquire the data we need to inform our decision-making, and continue to receive your questions, suggestions, and constructive feedback.
