The graduation ceremony for the class of 2019 will be held outdoors in the Wandke Amphitheater on the Pebble Beach Campus on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. A reception hosted by Stevenson School will follow the ceremony for graduates, families, guests, and faculty members.

Live Stream of Graduation Ceremony

We are excited to offer a live video stream over the Internet of the commencement ceremony for our Stevenson friends and family members who cannot attend the event in person. The event broadcast will start shortly before the ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

Thursday, May 23
Community Honors and Awards Day

This day celebrates a Stevenson tradition honoring outstanding students and faculty. Dress for the day is formal. Collared shirts with pants are appropriate, as are dresses, skirts or the equivalent. No denim, sweatshirts or athletic clothing, please.

8:50 a.m.  Advisee Meetings (Grades 9-12)
9:00 a.m. Student Council Awards – Keck Auditorium

(Owing to fire code regulations, only students and faculty may attend this event.)

9:30 a.m. Community Honors Assembly – Wandke Amphitheater

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Parents and other guests should sit behind the students and faculty.

11:00 a.m. Break
11:30 a.m. All students meet with faculty advisors
12:00 p.m. Class Barbecues / Lunch (Grades 9-12)
  • Grade 12 – Pirate Pool
  • Grade 11 – Reid Hall Patio
  • Grade 10 – Wilson Field near Barrows Hall
  • Grade 9 – Wilson Field near Treasure Island

Parents are welcome to attend and invited to serve as volunteers.

1:00 p.m. Senior Meeting (required) – Gym
2:00 p.m. Six Flags Magic Mountain – Seniors meet in Douglas Hall

This all-night amusement park celebration is a senior tradition. Magic Mountain, located in Valencia, CA, is on this night open only to graduating seniors from high schools from all over the state. Students should bring money for snacks and souvenirs. The class returns in the early afternoon on Friday. Contact Mr. Andrew Czerny, senior class sponsor, at for more information.

11:30 a.m. Mandatory: Graduation Rehearsal #1 – Wandke Amphitheater


Saturday, May 25

3:30 p.m. Mandatory: Senior Class Panoramic Photo – Meet in Wandke Amphitheater

Dress for Senior Dinner (see below). 

4:00 p.m. Mandatory: Graduation Rehearsal #2 – Wandke Amphitheater

Dress for Senior Dinner (see below). 

5:30 p.m. Mandatory: Senior Dinner – Reid Hall

The evening's program, which is for seniors and teachers only, includes a faculty speaker chosen by the class.

7:30 p.m. Mandatory: Baccalaureate – Erdman Memorial Chapel

Baccalaureate is the seniors' last gathering as a class prior to graduation. Selected students and teachers speak and perform. Immediate family members are welcome to attend; please note, seating is limited.

Sunday, May 26

11:00 a.m. – Graduation seating opens – Wandke Amphitheater

Seating for graduation is on a first-come, first served basis. No seats may be saved prior to 11:00 a.m. Six seats are allocated per family. Please be respectful of others. Ample additional seating is provided adjacent to the amphitheater.

12:00 p.m. Seniors Assemble – Learning Commons

All members of the Senior Class will meet in the Learning Commons at noon. Student dress for the day is formal: white-collared shirts with pants, dresses, skirts with blouses, or the equivalent and appropriate shoes. Graduation caps and gowns are issued at this time, and should be returned following the reception (see below).

1:00 p.m. Graduation Ceremony – Wandke Amphitheater

Professional photos will be taken of each graduate receiving their diploma and shared with families. A link to the live stream video will also be shared in advance.

3:00 p.m. Graduation Reception – Pirate Pool

All guests are invited to attend the celebratory reception for the graduating class immediately following the ceremony. Guests will be treated to a selection of light snacks, beverages, and music, as they socialize and congratulate our newest alumni.

6:00 p.m. Residence Halls close for Seniors

All senior resident students must be moved out of their rooms by 6:00 p.m.

Upper Division Announcements & Invitations

We are working to support local small businesses in our community and have selected "The Quill" in Pacific Grove as our printer. You can order graduation announcements only or add an optional invitation to attend the graduation ceremony or a private party.

Upper Division Important Information


Each graduating student will have a professional photo taken of them when they receive their diploma. Families will receive two copies of the photo and will be able to order more copies if they choose. Ordering can be completed here

Reserving Seats

Seating will be on a first come, first served basis starting at 11 a.m. Families may hold up to six (6) seats in the amphitheater seating area. Overflow seating is available in the upper lawn seating area. (In past years, families interested in specific seat locations have arrived 1-2 hours in advance to be well-positioned when seating opens at 11 a.m.)

All guests are encouraged to be in their seats by 12:45 p.m. as Commencement exercises begin at 1:00 p.m. Photos must be taken from your seats, as standing in the aisles is discouraged.

Parking and Shuttle Service

Parking is available at several locations on or near campus. Transportation shuttles (via golf cart, van, or bus) will be provided for transportation to the ceremony from the following locations:

  • Wilson Field parking area (located to the left of the main entrance next to the softball field)
  • The Jeff and Beth Young Athletic Fields parking areas (on Viscaino Road)
  • Lisbon Lane, Viscaino Road, and the Bristol Curve area

Handicap Access and Parking

If you require any special arrangements at the ceremony, such as wheelchair access or handicap parking, please contact Michelle Boatman at or 831-625-8397.


Restrooms are available in several locations near the graduation ceremony.

  • Reid Dining Hall (to the right of Rosen Amphitheater as you face the stage)
  • Rosen Center (handicap-accessible restroom located in the left rear corner of the main floor level)
  • Douglas Hall (up the stairs behind the upper row of seats in Wandke Amphitheater)

Food and Refreshments

As a courtesy to families arriving early, coffee, tea, water, and assorted muffins and danish will be available in the foyer of Reid Dining Hall adjacent to Wandke Amphitheater before the commencement ceremony.

A celebratory reception featuring hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will follow the ceremony at the Pirate Pool & Pedestrian Plaza from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. We welcome you, your family, and your friends to share in this celebration.

Campus Store Special Hours

The Campus Store in the Rosen Family Student Center will be open special hours before graduation for last minute gifts for your graduate or for Stevenson logo mementos.
