Stevenson School has participated in a Japanese exchange program with Komaba-Toho School in Tokyo since 1983. Komaba-Toho is one of the top schools in the nation, a prestigious all-boys day school.
This program offers one selected Stevenson male day student the opportunity to spend roughly five weeks in Japan during our summer break, living with a Japanese family and attending Komaba-Toho High School (still in session through early July). In exchange, the student’s Japanese host will stay with the Stevenson family locally and go to Stevenson in September and October. The Komaba-Toho student usually arrives stateside before our new student orientation. The Stevenson family will serve as the "guardian" while he is here. The travel expenses between Tokyo and San Francisco are covered by the fund established by Mr. Yasuhiko Sata, an alumnus of Komaba-Toho.
This program is not limited to those who take the Japanese course.
