Olympian Azevedo Leads Coaching Session

Tony Azevedo—a 2008 Olympic silver medalist and five-time Olympian—spent three hours during preseason training coaching our Stevenson boys and girls water polo teams.

“Tony Azevedo is the best male American water polo player to ever jump in the pool and was one of the greatest players in the world at one time,” shared head boys water polo coach Frank Reynolds. “The opportunity to have him coach our girls and boys water polo teams in private practices was the ultimate way to end the preseason. We are thankful to Tony and excited to start the fall season!"

Kate Morgan '22 added, "Tony brought Olympic level perspectives and experiences to challenges we faced as a team. He gave insight that agreed with our coaches' directions, but was a new perspective than what our coaches had taught us in the past. He also made everyone laugh and show what it was to truly enjoy the sport."
