Grade 8 Students Compare and Contrasts Cephalopods

The Grade 8 STEM Earth Science section visited the tentacles exhibit at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to learn about evolutionary changes in cephalopods as part of their trimester-long study of marine biology. Students observed octopus, nautilus, squid, and cuttlefish and noted the similarities and differences in anatomy and physiology among the different species. Students will follow up with a lab on shell evolution and a squid dissection. Eeew.
