Pirate’s Bozzo Selected Honorable Mention All CCS in Boys Water Polo
Luca Bozzo ’21 was selected to the All CCS team for boys water polo. He earned Honorable Mention honors. Luca was a First Team All-League selection this year and a Second Team All-League selection as a sophomore. Congratulations Luca!

Girls Varsity Basketball Wins First Road Games Over Rancho San Juan and Watsonville
The Pirate varsity traveled to Salinas last week and defeated a young Rancho team 62-21. Rhea Cosand ’22 led the team to victory scoring 16 points. Kailey Clymo ’21 added 12 points to the cause and Gaby Perez ’22 contributed 7. This past Tuesday the Pirates continued their winning ways with a 56-53 win over Watsonville. Kailey Clymo led the offensive attack with 15 points with Rhea Cosand supporting with 13. Gaby Perez contributed 11 and freshman Sydney Clymo  ’23 chipped in with 7.

Girls Varsity Basketball Finishes Second in the Alvarez Tournament
The Pirate girls basketball team showed well enough in the Alvarez Tournament to finish second and play for the championship. In the semi-final game, they trounced the host team 45-28. Sophomore Rhea Cosand again let the scoring parade with 19 and ably supported by Kailey Clymo ’21 with 11, Faith Pinnow ’20 and Kiren Kanazawa ’20 with four each. The Pirates fell to a very strong McQueen team from Reno, Nevada in the championship game, 45-22. 

JV Girls Soccer Team Falls to Carmel...Beats Notre Dame 
The JV girl’s soccer lost 10-0 to Carmel. The score was not definitive of their effort and quality of play. All 22 girls got minutes  and, as Romi Fernandez ’22 said: “our level of play at the beginning of this season is as good as if not better than our play at the end of last season.” Big things to come. In the Notre Dame game they won 4-2. The girls organized themselves among the chaos and took their frustration out by scoring goals and playing their best soccer yet.

Girls Varsity Soccer Team Falls to Pioneer Valley...Beats Harbor and Notre Dame
The Pirate girls dropped a soccer match to Pioneer Valley 3-0 last week. In the Harbor match, a 2-1 win, Helen Yang  ’20 scored the first goal on a free kick, Romi Marckx ’22 scored the second goal assisted by Helen Yang, and Lucy Lynch  ’20 had 9 saves. In the win over Notre Dame 9-0, Stevenson was led by hat tricks by Larkin Stephenson ’21 and Helen Yang. Grace Baldridge ’21 added 2 goals and Romi Marckx added 1. Defensively, Lucy Lynch had 7 saves and Vicky Li ’21 added 2. 

Boys Varsity Soccer Beats Anzar in High Scoring Affair
The Pirate boys drubbed Anzar 7-0 last week. Rolando Ortiz '20 led the team in scoring the hat trick with 3 goals. Other scorers for the Pirates were Brandon Perez-Saldivar ’21 2 goals, Nathaniel Hahn ’22 1 goal, and Jason Zhong ’21 1 goal. Kensington Belza ’20 contributed to the win with 1 assist, Quan Bui ’22 2 assists, and Michael Barbera ’20 1 assist. On the defensive side, Ardan Dorrian ’22 added 4 saves.

Boys Varsity Soccer Ties Monte Vista Christian 2-2...Trips St. Francis 5-1
Goals by Bush Sricharoenlumsam ’21 and Rolando Ortiz ’20 (assisted by Sricharoenlumsam) topped the scoring for the Pirates against Monte Vista Christian. Ardan Dorrian ’22 added 10 saves. This was a hard-fought game from start to finish, with standout performances by Ben Hahn ’20 and Win Metcalf ’22. Against.St. Francis the scoring was by:

Pirate Boys Varsity Basketball Show Well in the Alvarez Tournament Finishing Third
Boys basketball traveled to Salinas and won two of three games claiming the third-place trophy. In the opener, a 51-37 win over Sobrato, Luke Driscoll ’20 poured in 26 points and added 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Connor Olin ’20 chipped in with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Dylan Santos ’20 contributed to the winning effort with 5 steals and 7 rebounds. In the semi-final contest, the Pirates fell to a perennial powerhouse Davis High 102- 61. RLS was led in scoring by Driscoll with 21, Connor Cosand ’21 7, Evan Johnson ’22 6, Benjamin Soria ’20 6, and Dylan Santos 6. In the third-place contest, the Pirates picked up the trophy with a hard-earned 51-46 win over the host team. Driscoll again let the team in scoring with 23 while Sam Fontaine ’20 and Santos contributed 10 each. Driscoll was named to the all-tournament team. 

All Three Boys Basketball Teams Prevail over Watsonville in a Triple Header this Past Tuesday
The boys basketball teams made short work of Wantosnvill in the Pirate gym. The freshman team kicked off the winning night beating the young Wildcatz by 20 points. The boys JV team kicked off its season with 70-61 win. Audon Forgus ’23 scored 17 points and was ably supported by Kyle McTamaney ’22 with 14 points, Josh Peyton ’21 with 12 points,  Peter Butler ’22 10 points, and Trent Toole ’23 with 9 points. Hank Schmittgens ’22 contributed 5 points to the cause. The varsity defeated Watsonville 72-33 in a rout over the Wildcatz. Luke Driscoll ’20 led the scoring parade with 26, Evan Johnson ’22 added 9, Dylan Santos ’20– 7, Guido Davi ’20–6, and Weile Zheng ’22–6.

The 25th Annual Coach Wilson Boys/Girls Basketball Tournament Kicks Off Dec. 12-14
The very popular long-running tournament beings Thursday and runs through Saturday late afternoon. Teams competing this year are Carson from Carson City, Nevada, Rancho Mirage from near Palm Springs, Rio Americano from Fair Oaks, and the Stevenson Pirates. Game times are 3:30, 5:00, 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, while the time slots for Saturday are 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the exciting competition!
