Pirate Sailors Capture Stevenson Trophy

Gage Bradford '20 and Luc DuPreez '23 won the Stevenson trophy against sailors from five other Peninsula schools on November 16. Their victory marks Stevenson's second consecutive win in the twice-yearly regatta; Schuyler Jones '21 and Ryan Marquess '22 won the previous edition in March.  Bradford and DuPreez won two races and finished 2nd in the other five contests, putting them 3 points ahead of the runner-up from Carmel High School. Betty Ng '20 and Lilah Parker '22 captured third place with a record of 1-3-3-3-4-2-3. Jones and Audrey Yip '21 were next, 10 points behind Ng and Parker; they won the 5th race. Other Pirate pairs were Tony Chen '21 and Ryder Weston '23 (6th place) and Jason Zhong '21 and Sophia Thomsen '23 (7th). Conditions were challenging, with shifty northerly winds and fog. The Stevenson Trophy Regatta was inaugurated in 2001 by Pirate coach Jack McAleer to encourage high school sailing on the Bay.
