A Letter from the President

While a vaccine and multilayered national strategy are both nearing, and the end of the pandemic may be approaching, it also now appears we are in for a harsh winter insofar as the COVID-19 virus is concerned.

All across the world, this has been a year unlike any other—and though we have all been adversely impacted by the virus, our School community has met most every challenge with grit and grace. When this awful chapter finally draws to its eventual close, we will have earned the right to be proud of what we accomplished together.

As we move into the second half of the year, let’s not allow situational fatigue to diminish either our hope for the future or our resolve to protect the gains we’ve achieved through our shared sacrifices. Please follow the guidelines set forth in The Pirate Pledge as of now, along with all other relevant guidance, and do so vigilantly.

On behalf of my colleagues, I encourage you to reach out to us for help as you need it. We’re here for you. Thank you, as ever, for your trust, patience, and support.

Hold Fast,
Dr. Kevin M. Hicks '85, P ’29
