The Upper Division (Grades 9-12) reports on a student's progress six times each year:
- Fall Warning
- Fall Midterm
- Fall Semester*
- Spring Early Warning
- Spring Midterm
- Spring Term*
* Only the grades from the end of the semester appear on a student's transcript.
The first marking period in each semester is an "early warning" period after the first three weeks, when teachers only provide comments for students about whom they have a concern (usually a C+ or below).
For more detailed information about grades for each grading period, see "Description of Grade Reports" on the right.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
Pebble Beach Campus students receive letter grades for their academic courses with the associated grade value:
A (4.0), A- (3.7),
B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7),
C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7),
D+ (1.3), D (1.0), D- (0.7),
and either Pass or F for music lessons, Learning Strategies, and after school activities and sports.
Honors and AP courses receive extra weight of 0.3 grade points.
Note that F is a failing grade. D+, D, and D- grades are not college recommending and will subsequently not meet admission standards at most colleges. An Inc (Incomplete) is a temporary grade indicating that the student has been given the opportunity to complete work before the final grade is calculated.
A four-point grade point average (GPA) is computed for students at the midterm and semester marking periods. It includes all letter grades earned by the student in that marking period.
We also provide a Cumulative GPA (cum GPA) that includes the semester letter grades from all Stevenson courses taken in Grades 10, 11, and 12. This GPA is updated at the end of every semester and appears at the bottom of the transcript starting at the end of the fall semester of grade 10.
