Broadcasting from Pebble Beach for over 30 years
KSPB-FM, Stevenson's commercial-free radio station, has been broadcasting from Pebble Beach for over 30 years.
Students manage and staff the entire radio-station operation. Before applying for a live show on the air, students are required to take a class to learn how to operate the station equipment independently. Students must also understand applicable Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations.
Students select the genre of music for their specific show. Programming varies each year from alternative rock to shows that specialize in hip-hop and international music.
The station broadcasts over the air at 91.9 FM and has listeners in four counties (Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Benito) with a potential total audience of more than 1.5 million people. With the recent addition of live internet streaming, KSPB is now available worldwide.
Stevenson School is licensed to operate KSPB as a Class A non-commercial FM radio station at 1000 watts.
